Rescue Me ID: 18-05-14-00069CLARA (female)
We are absolutely in love with this sweet, calm dog, our Clara. Clara loves a nice leisurely walk and does like to play, but she is calm and just so lovable. Clara is fine with other calm dogs and she has been great with all our volunteers. Clara is a great dog who has been so neglected and is just so happy to receive kindness and love. When you approach Clara, all you hear is her tailing thumping like crazy. A real sweetheart. Please call us to meet Clara, who is located in Farmingdale, New York. 516-719-0808

Rescue Me ID: 17-07-16-00128Elfie (female)
Many of our followers are familiar with Elfie's story and how she came to Adopt-A-Dog. This resilient and spirited dog had suffered for most of her life, left tied to a pole and picked up by Manhattan ACC. The physical condition Elfie was in was nothing short of appalling, and when our staff saw her at ACC they knew we had to take her and give her a chance at having an incredible life. Since May, the Adopt-A-Dog staff has been working on the whole Elfie; her physical and mental health. Her early days were spent getting the love and affection that she probably went without for most of her life. Elfie was not able to move too much when she first came due to her skin condition, and the staff would sit by her side and just pet her constantly. As the bits of Elfie's past physically slid away, her infectious and fun personality began to shine through. Elfie is a force to be reckoned with now, as she is a natural at having her picture taken and can be pretty bossy when you're not giving her treats fast enough (don't tell her I said that!). She likes muffins and toys, and curling up in her bed at night. For any living creature to have been through what Elfie has been through, it is incredible how much spirit and love she has for the humans around her. Her gratitude for having a new lease on life pales in comparison to the excitement we have for her to find her forever home! If you are interested in adopting Elfie or any of our other adoptable dogs, please fill out the following online application here: https://goo.gl/Y5Zo2A (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-31-00204Brooklyn (male)
Brooklyn is a 4 year old terrier mix who was surrendered to the shelter thru no fault of his own, because his family was evicted. Brooklyn starts off a bit shy at first but then when he feels comfortable he warms right up. He's a very friendly outgoing boy after he warms up, who will need continued leash training. He is housebroken. Brooklyn should be the only pet in the house and should be with older teens and adults because he is so active.

Rescue Me ID: 16-11-18-00204Nala (female)
NALA BREAKS OUR HEARTS! Nala is a very VERY sweet girl looking for a home for so long. She's great in the house and she does not make a peep in her crate! She adores all her people and loves to cuddle on the couch. She's even fantastic at the vet! Nala had a family once, from 3 weeks to 3 years of age, but then they were down on their luck and they gave her to our rescue. She was never properly socialized with dogs and must be your only dog but we promise she can give you all the love you'd need. Nala would love a fenced backyard all her own. She is 4 years old now and so depressed without a family to love her. Could you be her family? She can live with kids 10+ and is located in CT. Nala is spayed, vetted and UTD on shots. She is crate trained and house trained. Contact us for more info to adopt: firstname.lastname@example.org (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-01-00294Winston (male)
Meet Winston! Winston has been through a lot in his life and is so deserving of a forever home! We found Winston at a local municipal shelter where he had been living for months. He rarely got out of his kennel, and was not socialized with many new people. We decided to bring him to our shelter to try to give him a better quality of life while he waits for his perfect home to come along. Winston is incredibly loyal and loving to people he trusts, but it takes some time for him to build trust with a new person. He is definitely worth the effort because once he loves someone it is for life! There is nothing this boy loves more than to sit at the feet of his person and just relax in their presence. Winnie has been through strict obedience training and has excelled in the routine of training. He also thoroughly enjoys agility training and taking long walks. Whoever adopts this boy will need to have the dedication to commit to bonding with him and continuing his training so he can be the best dog he can be for the rest of his long and happy life. In a perfect world, he be the only pet in an adult only home, but he does have the potential to live with another easy-going female dog. |Rescue Me ID: 15-03-01-00286Roxie (female)|
Meet Roxie! Roxie is a lovable girl who enjoys doing anything and everything! She has lived a very sheltered life, but she is excited to explore everything the world has to offer with a new family! Roxie was a puppy bought from a backyard breeder to a family that had never owned a dog before. They didn't know much about caring for a dog. They did not exercise, play with, train, or even feed her properly, so when she arrived at Adopt-A-Dog she was skinny, full of pent up energy, and very jumpy. She didn't even know how to play with toys! In just a few weeks of consistent training, Roxie is already showing a huge improvement in her behavior! She is not jumping as much and is taking very well to basic obedience training. She is still working on learning to walk better on leash, but we have even seen improvement with that as well! She has learned how to play with toys and now gets regular exercise which helps her to relax throughout the rest of the day! Roxie would do best in an adult only home being the only pet.
