Rescue Me ID: 18-02-28-00277Buckie (male)

Staffordshire Bull Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Buckie! This sweet snuggle bug warms up more quickly to women then to men at first but once he's comfortable you have a couch buddy for life. Buckie loves his toys and since he still is very much a pup he loves to play. Buckie is an approx. 1 year old, neutered male, black and white terrier mix that has suffered trauma, abuse and neglect. He loves the company of his 'people.' He doesn't care for strangers, loud noises or anything in or near his head and face. He is particularly fearful of men. He has likely never been around small children and has been extremely uncomfortable when seeing them in the neighborhood (running, yelling and ... (Read More)playing). This is because they move fast and make loud, sudden noises that scare him. A family with teenage + children or no children would be the best fit. He would also like a home without cats. They move fast and he does not understand that you can't play rough with them. He wants to chase them and make them stop their weird behaviors. We do not know what he is like with other dogs since he has had to overcome some medical treatment before attempting to integrate him with other dogs. We will post information about this once we are able to fully evaluate him. He may do best as the only pet in the household because of his fear and lack of confidence from past trauma. Buckie has SO MUCH love to give. He is playful and sweet with those he trusts not to hurt him. Once he knows what you expect from him, he aims to please. He saves his treats and prefers to eat them when he is with you. He also knows basic commands (sit, lay down, paw, up) and is 100% housebroken. He also crates well for 8+ hours if necessary during the work week but we prefer to not have him crated that long. He would make larger strides with socialization and confidence if he is adopted by someone that works from home or is home more often than not. Please contact Rescue Angels for more information and an adoption application. (Less)
